The Academy has grown in five years, from 2 faculty members and 60 students to 12 faculty members and over 180 students. 12% of the students receive scholarship assistance.

Special concerts this year include the Flag Day program with concert, flag presentation, and speaker on June 11, the Jamestown 400th/Independence Day concert on July 2, Christmas in July on July 23, and the Kids' Concert in the Park on July 30. On July 2 the concert will feature the first performance of "Virginia, Mother of Presidents" by Randy Cabell. Songs associated with each of Virginia's eight Presidents from Washington to Wilson are included in this selection commissioned by The Stonewall Brigade Band to celebrate America's 400th Birthday.
