Description
At each Parkway entrance a directional sign indicates 'north' or 'south'. North, toward the north end of the Parkway, leads to Shenandoah National Park. South, toward the south end of the Parkway, leads to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the most popular units of the National Park System. "America's Favorite Drive" winds its way 469 miles through mountain meadows and past seemingly endless vistas. Split-rail fences, old farmsteads and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys.
The Parkway incorporates several recreation areas, some exceeding 6,000 acres. These parks within the Parkway have visitor centers, camp grounds, picnic areas, trails and, in many instances, concessionaire-operated lodges, restaurants, and other facilities.

The Stonewall Brigade Band
The Stonewall Brigade Band is the nation's oldest continuous community band to be sponsored by local government and funded by tax monies.
The Summer Concert Season features a free concert every Monday night at 8 pm, June, July and August in The Stonewall Brigade Bandstand in beautiful Gypsy Hill Park, Staunton VA.
Concerts follow a consistent format, including a military march, an overture, a concert march, a sacred selection, a Broadway show medley, and several novelty, patriotic, and popular selections, ending with a Sousa march and the National Anthem.
Special concerts this year include the Flag Day program with concert, flag presentation, and speaker on June 11, the Jamestown 400th/Independence Day concert on July 2, Christmas in July on July 23, and the Kids' Concert in the Park on July 30. The final concert of the season will be a "best of" concert with selections repeated from earlier concerts, as suggested by audience and band members. There is a "voting link" on the concerts page. For concert details, click the concert series button above.
On July 2 the concert will feature the first performance of "Virginia, Mother of Presidents" by Randy Cabell. Songs associated with each of Virginia's eight Presidents from Washington to Wilson are included in this selection commissioned by The Stonewall Brigade Band to celebrate America's 400th Birthday.

Description
we are a local non-professional choral group located in Waynesboro, Virginia. We have now been singing for over 30 years (and still have one original member!) We come from many different professions and backgrounds, but we get together in the Choral Society to share our love for music and present several concerts each year. We usually do one Christmas Concert, and one Spring concert each year. Normally these each include an informal 1st half where we dance a bit and clown around, then a formal second half. Our group MEMORIZES all the music for these two concerts. In addition, we normally do at least one SACRED concert each year where we present a musical service at some area church in place of their regular worship service. For the last seven years we have also hosted a benefit concert for the Salvation Army during the Christmas Season. This benefit concert features a number of local musicians besides our group. If you like good Choral music and live in the Waynesboro, Staunton, or even Charlottesville area. You should consider joining us, either as a spectator or as a singer!
